CityTrees Initiative Enhances Redwood City Streets with 12 New Trees
Redwood City’s streets received a green makeover recently as CityTrees, a local organization dedicated to urban forestry, planted a dozen trees along the streets near Red Morton Park. The initiative aimed not only to beautify the neighborhood but also to fulfill a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The species selected for planting included Crepe Myrtle “Muskogee,” Holly Oak, Chitalpa “Pink Dawn,” and Western Redbud, carefully chosen for their adaptability to the local climate and their aesthetic appeal.
This particular planting event served as a makeup opportunity for CityTrees, as it aimed to clear out the yard of trees that had been purchased but remained unplanted during previous events. More than a dozen volunteers enthusiastically joined forces on Saturday morning, March 16th, to lend their hands in this community-driven effort.
Brooke Olson, the Treasurer of CityTrees, expressed her delight in the success of the event, stating, “It was truly a great day for us. Seeing the community come together to enhance our urban landscape is incredibly rewarding. These new trees will not only provide shade and beauty but also contribute to a healthier environment for generations to come.”
The location of the planting near Red Morton Park holds significance as it further extends the green canopy in an area frequented by locals and visitors alike.
