Welcome to City Trees!

CityTrees is a volunteer group, formed in May of 2000, to promote and support urban forestry efforts in Redwood City. CityTrees works with the Redwood City Public Works Department to plant and maintain trees along Redwood City’s streets, at schools, and on other publicly owned property.

Saturday tree plantings are sponsored by CityTrees once per month during the spring and fall. Tree prunings are held several times during the summer; one pruning workshop with Redwood City’s arborist is held early in the year to train volunteers.

You can use this website to learn more about CityTrees, and to see what events are coming up. Our archive also has information for you to see what we have been up to in the past. If you shop at the Redwood City farmers’ market, keep an eye out for our booth.

Join us for World Environment Day, Friday, June 5. CityTrees will be involved with two events that day. First, we will plant 18 trees along Bay Road and 5th Avenue. Meet at 10:00 AM at 3160 Bay Road. We will likely be done planting about noon. Second, visit our booth at the World Environment Day fair in Courthouse Square from 4:00 - 8:00 PM (remember, that there is a free concert from 6:00 - 8:00).

Saturday, June 20, please join us for a tree planting! We will be planting at Adelante School on Granger Way. We will meet at 9:00 AM at 3150 Granger Way. As usual, we'll have coffee and muffins to get started, then do a demonstration planting before we begin. Don't forget to wear sturdy shoes, clothes that can get dirty, and sunscreen. Tools, gloves and water are provided.
