Frequently
Asked Questions
- How can I help CityTrees?
- You can help CityTrees by volunteering your time or making a
contribution, or both. Go to our news page to see what events
are coming up at which you can lend a hand. To get on our
mailing list, go to the volunteer page. To make a cash
contribution, go to our donate page, print the form and mail it
back to us; for in-kind contributions, please contact us.
- How do I become a volunteer?
- All you have to do is show up at one of our events; that's all
there is to it. During the planning for each event we make every
effort to make sure that the number of expected volunteers
matches the size of the job, but walk-ons are always welcome. If
you have questions, contact us beforehand.
- Is there a minimum age for volunteers?
- No, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Keep in mind
that some events, like plantings, require some physical strength
and ability with tools, so common sense should be used.
- Does CityTrees accept in-kind contributions?
- Yes. Please contact us to determine if your donation matches
our needs.
- Would CityTrees plant a tree in my front or back yard?
- CityTrees does not plant or maintain trees on private
property, only on public property.
- What should I bring to a tree planting?
- You should wear sturdy shoes, clothes that can get dirty, and
a hat (or sunscreen). We supply the tools that you need,
including gloves, and will have water and snacks available.
- How many hours does a tree planting last?
- Plantings are usually held on Saturday mornings, begin around
9:00, and are finished by noon.
